Urban Issues

Workshop description

This workshop is oriented on the application of mixed reality technologies on urban multi-actors working environments. It will discuss the possible use of these technologies as an alternative to traditional language and communication medium such as drawings, perspectives and 3D models in co-production of urban projects.

Agenda

We will first have a theoretical introduction on the needs of a new approach of urban design: collaborative work integrating different stakeholders into project making processes; communication modes diminishing conflicting situations and helping negotiation and decision making; visual, oral and written material as structure of participative city making processes.
We will than learn from case studies issued from workshops organized in Austria, in France, and in other European countries by IPCity teams, and will imagine new scenarios using mixed reality for the programming, the design and the co-production of urban scenes.
We will finally enlarge this brainstorming on other technologies and imagine new toolboxes facilitating a dynamic and collaborative representation of urban environments.
