Explorative Edutainment
TimeWarpTimeWarp is a Mobile Mixed Reality game which is usually played in the Old Town of Cologne, but with your help we are going to stage it in Vienna!
The StoryAccording to legend, centuries ago the little gnomes called “Heinzelmännchen“ lived in the city secretly helping people with their everyday work. One night, however, a nosy woman tried to uncover their secret and trap them. Very angry about this attempt, the Heinzelmännchen decided to leave and were never seen again… Now, however, the players will uncover the truth about the Heinzelmännchen while on a dangerous mission through time and space.
The TechnologyThe game is played by two players as a team each of them equipped with an Ultramobile PC (UMPC). One of them is the navigator, scanning for Heinzelmännchen and opening portals into other time periods. The other player uses the UMPC as a “Magic Lens” to see an augmented view of the environment with virtual 3D characters, objects and buildings superimposed onto reality.
Your taskDuring the workshop we will create a new challenge for the players that is specific to Vienna and makes use of the real environment of the city. We need to scout a suitable location, discuss and decide on interactions and the specific task for the players, create and animate 3D models and produce other assets like audio recordings and video footage.
Preparatory Material Below you will find material for the workshop, provided by the workshop lead:
