Story-Telling

The Story-Telling Workshop will engage you with mobile story-telling and localized communication concepts that are researched in the "City Tales" part of the IPCity project.

City Tales

City Tales is working towards establishing a digital layer over the urban tissue of a city that contains a story-telling environment based on participant’s input. The power of a community driven content creation approach has been shown in many Web 2.0 applications, such as encyclopaedia , social networking portals  and geo-information . Our aim is to focus this power to the creation of content into the digital layer of an urban environment, supported with easy to use yet powerful tools for mixed reality content creation.

The Environment

"Naschmarkt" is a living market place in the heart of Vienna, providing the city with fruits, vegetables, all sorts of groceries ... and stories. Might these be real or fictious, the market place as a meeting and mixing point of people from all ages, interests, backgrounds, origins is a wonderful playground to create and experience stories.

Tasks

You will be familiarized with the concepts of the City Tales approach, including the story-telling aspect, as well as the technical background, server-client architecture.

Based on pre-existing content and your imagination we will create a story environment and make up stories that happen in them with characters, roles, etc. Using multimedia you will enrich this environment with your story, finally test, play and evaluate with other participants.
